The Texas Longhorns volleyball team plays Georgia on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Gregory Gymnasium in Austin. A win would help Texas separate from a group of five teams currently tied with three conference losses. The match airs on the SEC Network.
Texas sits at 10-7 overall and 6-3 in the SEC. Kentucky, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Georgia, and Missouri share the same three-loss mark in conference play. Florida leads the league with an 8-1 record, while Tennessee holds the second spot at 7-2. The Longhorns have five remaining conference games on their schedule.
Georgia enters the match at 14-5 overall and 6-3 in the conference. The Bulldogs lost their previous two games to Texas A&M and Missouri after winning six of their first seven conference matches. Their remaining schedule includes five games against ranked opponents.
The contest centers on Georgia outside hitter Bianna Muoneke. The Cypress, Texas, native leads the SEC with 383 total kills and 5.11 kills per set. She recently became the 21st player in Georgia history to record 1,000 career kills. Muoneke is the daughter of former Texas basketball player Gabe Muoneke.
Texas rebounded from a five-set loss to Florida last week by sweeping South Carolina on Sunday. The Longhorns won that match 25-12, 25-19, and 25-21. Torrey Stafford led the offense with 12 kills, while Henley Anderson contributed 11 kills. Nya Bunton added eight kills and three blocks. Cari Spears recorded the first kill of the upcoming match off an assist from Rella Binney.
