Jocelyn Benson and Winnie Brinks will present their initial policy agenda in Detroit on Wednesday. The governor-elect and lieutenant governor-elect plan to hold a press conference to detail the transition process and define their priorities for the coming term.
Benson served as Michigan’s Secretary of State from 2019 until her election to the top of the state government. Her campaign emphasized a specific set of economic and social goals for the state. These goals include lowering the cost of living for residents and ensuring the stability of state elections.
The incoming governor identified reinvestment in the education system as a central part of her platform. She also pledged to expand access to healthcare services and improve housing availability for Michigan families. These areas represent the core of her proposed administrative focus.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. local time. Media outlets will broadcast the event live for public viewing. The session will serve as the first formal public address by the incoming leadership team on their immediate legislative and executive plans.
The timing of the announcement follows the official transfer of power from the previous administration. Both Benson and Brinks will address the logistics of the transition alongside their substantive policy proposals. The event marks the start of their public tenure in office.
