The order of candidates on the upcoming ballot is not yet fixed.

A public lottery will determine the placement of City Council candidates who filed their petitions during the same time window. The event is scheduled for noon on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026. It will take place in Council Chambers at the Naperville Municipal Center, located at 400 S. Eagle Street.

The lottery addresses candidates who submitted their petitions at the very start or the very end of the filing period. Anyone whose petition was received by the City Clerk’s office at 8 AM on Monday, Oct. 19, will enter one drawing to determine who appears first on the ballot. Those who submitted their petitions between 4 PM and 5 PM on Monday, Oct. 26, will enter a separate drawing to determine who appears last. Petitions filed between 8 AM on Oct. 19 and 4 PM on Oct. 26 will appear in the exact order they were received.

Illinois state law mandates this process. Local election authorities must conduct the lottery within nine days after the petition filing period closes. The session is open to the public, and candidates do not have to attend the event.

The results will set the lineup for the Consolidated General Election scheduled for April 6, 2027. Voters will choose from Mayor Scott Wehrli and Councilman Benny White for the mayoral race. Eight residents are competing for four four-year City Council seats. Incumbents Josh McBroom, Nate Wilson, and Supna Jain are running for reelection. The field also includes Staci Boyer, Kristine Gericke, Laurie Donahue, Mark Willensky, and Michael Christin. Voters can contact the City Clerk’s Office at (630) 305-5300 for details on the City Council elections.

Early voting for the General Midterm Election is currently underway at the Naperville Municipal Center. That vote is set for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, and is distinct from the 2027 City Council race.
