Chesterfield Township police opened an investigation after a white SUV fired a BB or pellet gun at multiple parked vehicles overnight. The incidents occurred across several streets in the township, leaving residents with shattered glass and damaged windshields.
Lisa Birkmeier discovered her car had been hit when she stepped outside on Wednesday morning. Her surveillance footage captures the white SUV pulling up to her vehicle on Red Creek Lane and firing several rounds. Birkmeier stated the damage occurred around 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday night. She reported that she will have to pay for the repairs out of pocket, which include a new windshield and two broken windows.
Police officers told Birkmeier upon arrival that her report was among several complaints received that morning. One vehicle on Julies Drive sustained seven hits. A Jeep parked on Crosscreek Drive suffered a shattered driver-side window and multiple shot marks on the windshield.
Kelle Finn, the owner of the Jeep, found the damage the morning after the incident. He said he initially believed he had been targeted specifically. Finn’s home camera also recorded the same white SUV. Both Finn and Birkmeier noted that the vehicle made a distinct sound consistent with an electric car.
No suspect is currently in custody. The police department is asking residents who may have similar damage or information about the vehicle to come forward. Birkmeier expressed surprise at the boldness of the attack, noting the prevalence of security cameras in the area. Finn commented on the nature of the incident, saying, "I get it, you want to go out and have some fun, whatever you believe is fun, but at other people's expense? It's not right."
