Marquette University will host an Applied Learning Fair on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sensenbrenner Hall Eisenberg Reading Room. The event provides a structured opportunity for undergraduates to review specific pathways for gaining practical experience outside the classroom.
Representatives from 17 distinct programs and organizations will staff booths to discuss their offerings. These groups cover four primary categories of experiential education. The college uses this format to help students match their academic interests with available resources.
Internship opportunities form the largest portion of the attendee list. Seven specific programs will be present. These include the Les Aspin Center for Government and Kleczka Program in Milwaukee, the Public History Internship Program, and the Biology LAUNCH Program. The Klingler College of Arts and Sciences Internship Program, the Social and Cultural Sciences Multidisciplinary Internship Program, and Internships in the Humanities will also participate.
Students interested in global exposure can speak with the Study Abroad and Away office and the Office of International Education. The Languages, Literatures, and Cultures department will also be available. Community engagement options include Marquette’s Service-Learning Program, the M.A.P. campus ministry, Midnight Run, and The Center for Peacemaking. Midnight Run is identified in the event details as the largest weekly service organization on campus.
Professional development resources are also featured at the fair. The Career Center will be present along with representatives for Prestigious Fellowships, the 707 Hub, MU Student Made, and The Dorm Fund. A separate research session will allow students to hear from peers about their undergraduate research journeys. Dr. Leslie McAbee serves as the point of contact for the event and can be reached at leslie.mcabee@marquette.edu.
