Stable Android 17 updates are now rolling out to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 in India.
OnePlus shifted these two devices from OxygenOS to ColorOS 17. This move ends the use of OxygenOS, a software layer that began as a near-stock Android experience. Over time, it became a tuned version of Oppo's ColorOS for global markets. The company announced the transition when it scaled back its global operations.
The software had been in beta for some period before this stable release. OnePlus described the update as bringing smarter experiences and smoother interactions. The company stated the goal is to make technology feel like it naturally keeps up with users. It aims to help turn ideas into finished work with AI and reduce friction between tasks and devices.
The release date moved forward from the original plan. OnePlus initially scheduled the first updates for October 29. The stable rollout began roughly a week earlier than that date.
Only the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 are included in this first wave. Other devices are confirmed for future updates, including previous flagships and Nord models. The OnePlus 13 is scheduled to receive the update in the next wave on October 30.
The update is expected to reach other regions soon. No specific dates were confirmed beyond the India launch and the October 30 follow-up.
This change follows reports that the OnePlus 15 sold out in the United States after the company shut down most global operations. OnePlus has also unveiled the OnePlus 16, which features a 9,000 mAh battery.
