Philippine police have secured a computer belonging to Thomas Markle Sr for a digital forensic examination. Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla stated on October 23 that investigators expect to have results within one week. The device was part of a larger seizure at a home in Cebu, where Markle Jr claimed to have found hundreds or thousands of images on various electronics.

The investigation follows a report by The Sun newspaper. Markle Jr, 60, told detectives that he discovered the images on computers and mobile phones stored in four large boxes at his father's former residence. Markle Sr lived in Cebu until May of this year, when he returned to the United States after a stroke. He has denied the claims, calling them sick lies, and said he was shocked and hurt by the news.

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, issued a statement through a spokesperson to address the situation. She described herself as deeply distressed by the allegations. The statement revealed that the Metropolitan Police shared a letter with her in 2018. The document, sent to the Royalty and Specialist Protection unit, contained disturbing allegations against her father. Meghan said she was assured the matter was under investigation. She explained that her decision to limit contact with her children was intended to protect them. She added that she trusted authorities were taking similar steps for other families and hopes justice will be fully served.

Sources indicated that Meghan remained silent in 2018 to avoid jeopardizing potential investigations or facing legal action. The Metropolitan Police unit passed the letter to her shortly after her wedding. The force has not previously investigated Markle Sr and is not currently conducting an investigation. It is making internal inquiries to confirm whether officers passed the letter to her.

Markle Jr also contacted the FBI, which said it will support Philippine authorities and investigate any federal violations of US law. Philippine Undersecretary Nicholas Ty confirmed that a taskforce in Cebu is handling the case. Markle Sr is currently in a rehabilitation center in Florida, where he is learning to walk with a prosthetic limb after a leg amputation. He said the computers had not been in his possession since he moved to the Philippines in January 2025 for a fresh start.

Samantha Markle, Meghan's half-sister, defended their father and accused Markle Jr of making up lies to make money. She noted that the allegations surfaced days after their father cut off his financial support. She argued that the computers were out of his possession for two years, which leaves room for tampering. Markle Sr has been estranged from Meghan since he missed her wedding to Prince Harry on health grounds. He has never met his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
