245 Yards: How One Player Secured a Top Seed as 6A Season Ends

Mack Jurkovich rushed for 245 yards on Friday night to cement his legacy as the top individual performer of the Class 6A regular season finale. The Forest Lake running back also scored twice in a 31-13 victory over Stillwater. The win locks the Rangers into a No. 2 seed for the upcoming playoffs. Jurkovich finished the campaign with 1,600 rushing yards and has already committed to play college football at St. Thomas.

Roseville emerged as the headline team in the East Metro. The Raiders defeated Coon Rapids 24-14 to claim the Metro Maroon subdistrict title. This marks the program's best regular season record since 2017, finishing with a 4-4 mark. Senior quarterback Chase Browning led the offense with 162 passing yards and three touchdowns. Browning described the victory as an amazing feeling that validates the team's hard work.

Other subdistrict titles changed hands across the region. Mounds View secured sole possession of the Metro East title with a 22-16 win over White Bear Lake. The Mustangs trailed by two points until Tanner Jude scored on a one-yard run with 65 seconds remaining. A successful two-point conversion extended the lead to six. Preston Johnson then intercepted a pass on the final possession to seal the result. The Mounds View defense limited White Bear Lake quarterback Wyatt Stachowiak to just six completions on 24 attempts.

Centennial delivered a dominant performance in its own division. The Cougars crushed Anoka 38-6 to likely secure a No. 3 playoff seed. The result positions Centennial as a strong contender for a deep run in November. This victory marked the first time this season that Anoka was held to single digits in a game.

Drama defined the south metro results. Lakeville South completed a stunning upset of Rosemount with a 36-yard field goal by sophomore kicker Dylan Nelson. The kick landed with one second left to produce a 17-14 victory. This outcome complicates the seeding landscape for the south metro teams heading into the postseason.

Several other notable performances rounded out the night. East Ridge defeated rival Woodbury 42-31 to close a difficult season. Logan Tretter ran for two touchdowns while Elias Mather returned an interception for a late score. In another matchup, Park beat Eastview 18-10. Junior receiver Manny Vargas scored twice for the Wolfpack, catching a touchdown pass and returning a punt 75 yards for the other.
